People ask us all the time, why should I try snowblades? When we talk with them a little more, they usually start talking about their frustration with skis or snowboards. Many say they are tired of sitting in the lodge while their kids or family are up having fun. Fear is a common reaction to riding long skis that don’t turn easily. Riding something on the mountain at altitude, with slopes spreading beneath you on equipment that you can not easily manage is just not all that much fun.
Snowblades (now called skiboards) change things. Most people can get up and running within an hour, usually without lessons. They are easy to turn, stop, and play on. You can stand upright instead of leaning forward like with traditional skis, which is a more familiar and natural stance. Snowblades are lighter, and safer when using release bindings than anything else on the mountain.
The real reason to use snowblades though is instant fun. You get to have FUN! And this happens from the very first day. Being confident, no longer in terror of how to manage the equipment, you are free to enjoy your day and ride with your kids, family and friends without concern over what trails you take. Imagine that?
You have nothing to lose by trying them. If you don’t like them, go back to taking endless lessons to learn how to ski better. If you do like them though, you get to transcend the whole learning curve and start having a great time in the mountains now, with confidence, ease and a smile on your face.
Here is to instant fun!
